So, you finally got yourself a classic car and now you’re wondering what to do with it.  For most people, part of the thrill of owning a classic car is driving it, of course.  The other fun part of owning a classic car is learning how to appropriately take care of it.  At JD’s Auto Repair, we take pride in offering services for car owners so that they can both enjoy and appreciate their classic cars and other vehicles.

After purchasing or inheriting a classic car, its important to take a few hours and write up a list of what needs to be accomplished.  By taking note of the specific care tips, you’ll be guaranteed to enjoy the life of your vehicle for years to come.  At JD’s Auto Repair, we take the time to help each one of our customers learn the ins and the outs of owning a vehicle, and we always make sure to answer questions as they arise.  To get started caring for your classic car, here are four tips.

1.Wash.

Before taking your classic car out on the road, it’s a good idea to give it a hand wash.  To maintain its look over time, wash it and dry it whenever possible.  This will keep salt and grime from damaging the exterior.

2.Wax.

After you hand wash your classic car, it’s time to give it a good waxing, as well.  Waxing is the best way to make your paint job stand out, and it will also help preserve the aesthetic of your vehicle as time progresses.  Try to wax your classic car once every six months and then use some chrome polish throughout, as well.

3.Clean the interior.

Washing and waxing are important, but keeping the interior clean is important, as well.  It’s important to keep your classic car looking great, and keeping the interior cleaned is a great way to preserve its life.  You’ll want to protect your car’s leather from stains, and you’ll want to keep it safe from the sun, as well.  Leather creams, UV blockers and vinyl cleaners are all helpful for this kind of maintenance.

4.Change the oil.
